Located under the arch top of the Plaza de la Corredera, this family business was founded in the year 1960. However, at the same location was the first bar in the square whose origin dates back to 1868.
At that time, the Plaza de la Corredera was Bullring and the commercial centre of the city. Under the galleries that surround the square on three sides, there were many businesses. Today, the square is restored and it's a place for various public events (medieval market in January or concerts and performances of flamenco in summer).
El Sótano has a capacity for 96 people. It has a large terrace where you can enjoy these shows in the front line. The interior of the bar is divided into two rooms with a capacity for 70 people in total.
There is a wide variety in snacks and meals, all home cooking. Among the specialty deserve special mention of scrambled, tripe, red meat and salmorejo (tomato puree).
